Wayne Gretzky's nickname is, not surprisingly, "The Great One". He was a 10-time NHL scoring champion, a nine-time regular season MVP (1979-87,89) and nine-time All-NHL first team. He scored 200 points or more in a season 4 times and led Edmonton to 4 Stanley Cups (1984-85,87-88). He broke Gordie Howe's all-time NHL goal scoring record of 801 on Mar. 23, 1994 and is the all-time NHL leader in points (2857), goals (894) and assists (1963). In 1999 at age 38 with 61 NHL scoring records in 20 seasons, Gretzky retired. Mark Messier began his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers, later leading the New York Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup championship. Mark Messier is known as one of the games greatest hockey players, winning six Stanley Cup Championships and was named captain on two different teams.
